This Small Parenting Mistake can Hurt your Kids Confidence

She is sad, but when I said her to smile for a picture, this is the best she can done. Yes, I'm laughing now for seeing such cute face. But she was sad for not letting her cut open these paper glasses from a sheet. There was a paper sheet where these glasses were framed out for filling colors in and cut it off.

After coloring, I was cutting it off by myself and Prerna was trying to do it also by herself. And I said to her that Beta, you could tear it down. It could go waste so let me do it for you. It made her sad, when I asked her for a photo and smile, this is how she expressed her sadness behind this little smile.

After that It made me think that what I done, I made her sad. I destroyed her curiosity and true happiness. I shouldn't have done this instead I should let her do that by herself.

A small thought

Sometimes we try to help our kids without realizing that they don't need our help that time. They just want to do the things by themselves out of curiosity and trying new things. And we thing at the same time that we can do this thing better and faster.

She was not trying to cut those glasses perfectly. She was just curious that how to do that. But in that moment, I thought the paper was more important then her curiosity about learning new things.

I feel we should let our kids try to do such small things by themselves whenever it's safe. Let them make mistakes and learn from them. These small attempts helps them to become more confident.
